The Line 1 of Beijing Subway was constructed in 1969, it was the first urban subway system in China, the system has 9 lines right now, and connects 147 stations around the downtown and suburb area of Beijing.

Beijing Subway network is the second longest underground transportation system next to Shanghai Metro, the daily transportation has exceeded about 5 million people, more lines are undergoing rapidly to meet this mass transit need. The network will have 19 lines and 561 Km of tracks by the year of 2015.

According to the lastest report, the daily peak flow hit 5,327,900 on the last day of 2009.

Lama Temple, Yonghe Temple

The Yonghe Lamasery was built in the 33rd year of the Kangxi reign period of the Qing Dynasty (1694) to serve as a residence for Prince Yinzhen In the third year of the Yongzheng reign period (1725), it was renamed as the Yonghe Palace.After Yongzheng’s death in 1735, his coffin was placed in the temple

Emperor Qianlong, his successor, upgraded Yonghegong to an imperial palace with its turquoise tiles replaced by yellow tiles (yellow was the imperial color in the Qing Dynasty). During the 9th year of Emperor Qian Long’s reign (1744), it was converted into a lamasery and became a residence for large numbers of monks from Mongolia and Tibet.This is a kind of friendly policy that the Qing dynasty deal with the relation with Mongolia and Tibet. That is the reason why the Great Wall was not massive constructed during the Qing dynasty.

The Yonghe Lamasery contains five main halls along a north-south axis and three memorial archways. In the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses rises the statue of Maitreya, 18 metres above ground and eight metres below ground. The statue, carved from a single trunk of white sandalwood, is the largest wooden statue of Buddha in China. In 1993, it was included in the Guinness Book of Records.

These pictures were taken on the top of Huarun Building, one of the best office building, I am lucky to have a chance to take following pictures.

Today is very foggy, so cannot see clearly far away…

Two big buildings that you can see stand above others, one is the CCTV Tower on the left, and another is going to be an office building

This is the Jianguomen Flyover, by the time I was taking this picture, the time was about 1:00 PM, so you cannot see too much traffic.

The following 2 pictures were taken towards the west, the old part of the city, where you can see the old one-floor traditional Peking’s Siheyuan (courtyard) building, with some big buildings around.
