Notes to Beijing Subway:

  • All luggages need to be scanned.
  • Ticket price at 2 Yuan, no matter where you are going.
  • You can buy one time ticket at the ticket office, swip your ticket at the terminal before entering into the station, and when you leave the subway station, you will need to insert the ticket into the terminal for recycling.
  • Or you can buy Beijing Traffic Card, which is much easier to use, just swip the card to the terminal when you check in and out.
  • Right now the Beijing Subway has:
    Line 1: from west to east
    Line 2: loop line around the old city downtown
    Line 4: Summer Palace to Gongyiqiao West (公益桥西)
    Line 5: from north to south (going to Yizhuang)
    Line 8: Olympic Branch: From the transfer station Beitucheng (Line 10)to Olympic Forest Park, if you want to go to the Olympic Park, this line is the only choice.
    Line10: west to east then to south
    Line13: another loop line in the north
    Airport light railway: From Dongzhimen and Sanyuanqiao to Airport (T3, T2, T1), starts at every 30 mins, ticket: 25yuan/one way
    BaTong Line: west (sihui) to east (tuqiao)

    And the lines coming into operation:
    Line 6: West-East line, will parallel with Line 1, it will be finished in 2012;
    Line 7: West-East-South
    Line 10: Make a larger loop line, the Phase II will be finished in 2013
    Line 14: West-East-North
    Line 15: West-East-North, from Summer Palace to Shunyi, 2008-2012
