2008 Happy City of China
The awarding ceremony of 2008 the happy cities in China was held in Kunming on 25th of Dec, 10 cities won the title. They are: Hangzhou 杭州, Ningbo 宁波, Kunming 昆明, Tianjin 天津, Tangshan 唐山, Foshan 佛山, Shaoxing 绍兴, Changchun 长春, Wuxi 无锡, Changsha 长沙. Among them, Hangzhou is the only city that keeps in this list for the last five years.
The city election activity has been held for 5 years since 2004, and it was arranged by a weekly magazine “Oriental Outlook 瞭望东方周刊 ”, joinly with China Mayors Association. The survey covers 12 aspects on daily life, such as: natural environment, traffic, social development, level of civilization, money-making opportunity, medical care, education, price on the real estate, human kindness, public security, employment, life convenience etc.
The final result based on survey both conducted by professional company as well as public poll, there are 300 medias, 7 million questionnaires, and about 70 million online polls took part in it.
Besides the above list, according to the specific guildlines, there are other 10 cities hit a high score in the following aspects:
Human kindness: Anshan 鞍山
Money-making: Shenzhen 深圳
Best traffic: Weihai 威海
Life convenience: Shanghai 上海
Medical care: Beijing 北京
Education: Nanjing 南京
Public security: Qingdao 青岛
Natural environment: Haikou 海口
Level of civilization: Dalian 大连
Social development speed: Chongqing 重庆
